I think the Buddy Club is great. I really enjoy talking with the older students about school life and growing up. They can tell me a lot. One student told me how he relaxed (放松) before exams. Another student told me about great websites about learning History and English.
The Buddy Club is also a good place to just forget about school altogether! One of the older students taught us origami (日本折纸). We made paper planes, birds and hats together.
The table tennis tournament（锦标赛) was a great idea. I didn’t do very well, but I learnt a lot from watching the doubles tournament won by a fourteen-year-old girl and a seventeen-year-old boy.
Last year, we had the annual (每年的) Buddy Club Picnic. Everyone enjoyed the games we played. After I learnt how to fish, I caught two fish in the lake. I think it might be a good idea to change the Buddy Club Picnic to a weekend camping trip. We could learn how to put up (架起) tents (帐篷) and how to find our way through a forest. Many of the older students know how to do this already, and I think they would like to teach the younger students.
I want to say again how much I enjoy the club. When I’m older, I will make friends with younger students. Then, I can tell them all about school life and growing up. ( )1.What does the writer enjoy doing at the club?
A. Learning Japanese. B. Talking to older students. C. Losing at table tennis. D. Surfing the Internet. ( )2.What websites did the writer learn about?

A. No, and he was very unhappy. B. No, but came second.
C. Yes, he won the doubles. D. No, but he enjoyed watching it. ( )4.How does the writer want to change the picnic?
A. He wants more fish to be caught. B. He wants to make it shorter.
C. he wants to have it in a tent. D. He wants to change it to a camping trip. ( )5.What does the writer want to learn?
A. How to put up a tent and make a fire.
B. B. How to put up a tent and find his way through a forest. C. How to make clean water and find his way through a forest. D. How to find his way through a forest and climb a mountain. B
American and British people both speak English of course. But sometimes there are some important differences between British English and American English.
First of all, they sound very different. Often, Americans don’say words together. Americans may say “I dunno” 代替)“I don’t know”. Or they may say “Whaddya say?” instead of “What did you say?” However, the British are more careful. They usually say all the words and keep them separate.
Sound is not only the difference. Words sometimes have different meanings too. For example, the vocabulary(词汇) for cars and driving is very different. Americans drive trucks(卡车), but in England people drive lorries.
Many expressions（短语） are also different in the two countries. In England, if you are going to telephone your friends, you “phone them up”. In America, you “give them a call”. When you are saying goodbye in England you might say “Cheerio!” In America you might say “See you later.” There’re also some differences in grammar(语法). For example, Americans usually use the helping verb “do” when they ask a question. They say “Do you have a storybook?” But the British often leave out the helping verb. They say “Have you a storybook?”
Most languages are like this. Languages change over time. When people live in separate places, the languages change in different ways. This is what has happened to English. It can also happen to other languages, such as French. Many people in Canada speak French but their French is very different from the French of France.

Have you ever wondered what an American high school is really like? This article will describe a typical（典型的）high school and its students.
A typical American high school has several large buildings and enough space for about 1,500 students. Every student is given a locker. When students first arrive at school, they go straight to their lockers to put away or get their textbooks and to hang up their outdoor clothes. As American textbooks are expensive, students would like to loan（租借）instead of buying them. Students must pay back if they lost any of them.
American students have different types of school transport. They usually take a yellow school bus or walk to school if they live close enough. Sometimes their parents drive them to school. When they turn 16 years of age, most take a free driving class at school for one term. If students earn passing grades in the class and also pass their state driver’s exam, they can begin driving themselves to school.
Each day, students take six or seven classes. They must take science, math, English and social studies. They can choose art, homemaking, fashion design and other classes. In some schools students are
required to take one or more of the following special classes: health education, physical education or foreign language studies. Students move to different classrooms for each subject. This is because each teacher has their own classroom. There is a five-minute break between classes, to give the students the time to hurry to their next class.
The regular school day usually ends early in the afternoon. After school more than half of the students take part in after-school activities. These activities include sports-especially football, basketball, baseball and soccer or clubs, such as yearbook, speech, school newspaper, photograph or student government.
