Topic: Unit 5, Section A,Where did you go on vacation?

Teaching Objectives:

1. Knowledge objectives: to learn some new phrases (stay at home, visit museums, go to the beach....) ; to learn some sentence patterns( Where did you go on vacation? I went to......)

2. Ability objectives: be able to talk about students' own vacation activities by using the simple past tense; be able to improve their listening and speaking abilities

3. Emotional objective: feel the beauty of traveling

Key points and difficult points:

1.Talk about their vacation activities in the past;

2.Use the sentence patterns to communicate with each other fluently;

3.Get the main idea of listening material and the useful information.

Teaching Methods: Task-based language teaching, communicative language teaching

Teaching Aids: blackboard, chalk, PPT

Teaching Procedure:

Step1: lead in: free talk: where did you go on your National Day?

Step2: pre-listening: show some pictures and then let them guess what people do in different scenes. And match the activities with pictures.

Step3: while-listening

a. Play the record, and ask students to finish the task in 1b.

b. Work in pairs and make conversations according to the 7 activities in 1a.

c. Listen to another tape to complete the chart: where did the people go on vacation? d. Listen again. Check(√) Yes, I did or No, I didn't for each question.

Step4: post-listening: role-play the conversation

a. answer several questions: Where did Helen go on vacation?

What did Helen do there?

What did Rick do last month?

b. imitate the dialogue

c.fill in the blanks according to the conversation

Step5:Group work

Make a survey. Ask your group members what they did on National Day.Then give us a report. Here is an example:

In my group, .....watched TV and went shopping. He/She thinks his/her vacation was boring/interesting....

Step6: Summary: What have you learned in this class?

Step7: Homework:

1. Make conversations between Grace, Kevin and Julie according to 2c

2.Write a passage to introduce your National Day
